Last year when I was in Seoul in got the chance to chat with Jason Calacanis, whom I told him about The Actionscript Conference. When I told him that it is still small, he told me “give it a few years”. His words bring me far and I am determined to turn TAC into one of the biggest Flash and Flex conference in South East Asia.

This year, TAC will be held on the 14th and 15th September, in the 550 seater of NTUC auditorium at One Marina Boulevard. For many attendees, it simply means crossing the road of Shenton way from their office to the venue. 2 Full days means we are invite more speakers, more topics and give you the updates and knowledge of Flex, Flash and Flash Player, and AIR that you are craving for.

The Actionscript Conference (TAC), the first conference I ever organized, happens at The National Library yesterday on the 19th October 2008. The term “Making history” is a bit overrated, but I guess me , the organizers, the speakers, the sponsors and the attendees will remember this day as we all finally have a conference that is much needed in this region! I will like to especially thanks Lionel Low , Kenneth Teo, Alex Goh, Alvin Zhang, Stefano Virgilli, Arul Prasad , Arul Kumaran and Bok Thye Yeow for making all these possible! And of course, the speakers and sponsors, for giving us so much support!

It has definitely been a busy 4 months but we are finally able to pull this off. For those who are unable to get a ticket to the event, I posted video (thanks to AV8 and FusionGarage for renting us the cameras!) to share the final moments of TAC

Me, Arul Prasad, and Alvin Zhang are having coffee over at Coffee Bean this wednesday when we decide to record a video for The Actionscript Conference.

Alvin Zhang, our Design Manager, is also an avid singer, is having his first concert this weekend. Join us to his concert if you are free this saturday night.

I think it is time for me the write about the event I will be organizing on the 19th October, Singapore - The Actionscript Conference.

I have been toying with the idea of organizing a full day actionscript event ever since 2007, when MAX stop organizing in Singapore from 2006. Therefore last year, I managed to invited Aral Balkan to Singapore for a 1 day event on Actionscript. This year, I hope that we can organize a bigger, and better event. The Singapore Web industry deserve more Web events than it should have currently, and while there are many events in Singapore to boost entrepreneurship, the balance is broken when there are so many entrepreneur yet only so little talented developers. Many are seeking for Flex developers with experience with no avail. Startups are finding it hard to find talented developers which they need to kick start their great ideas. And there is no place in Singapore that trains Flex, when it should not be the case when I receive many emails a month on recommendation on schools to learn Actionscript / Flex. With the Singapore Flex Usergroup, we therefore want to create a Conference in which we can bring the developers in the region together, to educate , learn and evolve together in this event.

The Actionscript Conference is thus born, with the help of a dedicated Flex/Flash/Actionscript guru in Singapore:

The Actionscript Conference, to be held on the 19th October 2008, at the Singapore National Library, aim to bring awareness to Flex, Actionscript, the possibilities of the Flash Platform to the audience here. That will includes Flash Mobile, Rich Internet Applications, Enterprise Flex, Programming Actionscript, Advance topics on 3d Flash, and Tools / IDE for Flash / Flex. On the other hand, we want to allow startup that uses Flash for their primary UI / Applications to showcase  their application during the event.
